Nine Manhattanville College alumni have come together to put together Not an Original Theater Company. The company's name is a tribute to the belief that all art is inspired, borrowed, stolen recreated, and informed by other art. The company is inspired by other artists, companies and bodies of work.
Their current production Liminal: A Romeo and Juliet Inspired Piece, will hit the stage Feb. 10-11 at the Producers Club in New York City.

"The idea for the production came from our director/producer Rachele Fachini Ivers '06. She couldn't understand how audience after audience could go and see Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, with full knowledge of the ending, and never stand up and scream at Romeo 'No! Don't do it! She's NOT dead! STOP!'" Alexis DePersia-Norelli '06 said. "From there she and I pulled together a group of people who we have worked with over the years. People who we know to be very dedicated and talented performers that love a strong ensemble oriented creation process and started to work together."
Liminal is the third piece the company has worked on, the second that has had a formal showing. Their show The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man in the Moon Marigolds was put up in January 2010 at the Producers Club. Not an Original Theater Company started in 2009.
