The Center for Career Development hosted the "Hired or Fired Game Show," on November 9, 2011 in the Berman Student Center. The event provided students the opportunity to learn interviewing skill in a fun yet informative way.
Three contestants were picked prior to the game show, Makana Gomes, Justyn Richardson and Duchesne Center Coordinator Craig Donnelly. Donnelly was included as the contestant who couldn't answer any questions correctly.
Students were asked common interview questions, behavioral questions and the final round offered "curve-ball" questions, which included questions that potential employees should not be asking in an interview.
After each question, audience members rated the contestants answers. The contestant with the most points after three rounds and the bonus round question, ask your interviewer a question, won $50 in Pub Cash. Richardson won the contest, but both Gomes and Richardson provided great answers.
Between rounds, Shannon Greene, Assistant Director of the Center for Career Development offer Interview Quick Tips.
The game show was hosted by Steven Arroyo, a 2010 Manhattanville alum, who works as a recruitment consultant at Page Personnel. He also offered his insight on the best way to answer questions in an interview and took questions after the game show portion of the event ended.
