Governor Andrew M. Cuomo presented his proposed 2011-2012 Executive Budget on February 3 to hundreds of New Yorkers at Manhattanville College including the College’s students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The Governor is touring New York State in an attempt to personally deliver his message to local communities regarding a proposal to address New York’s $10 billion deficit without raising taxes or borrowing. Manhattanville College was selected as the site to address the Westchester County New York community.
Manhattanville President Dr. Molly Easo Smith welcomed the governor by stating, "On behalf of my faculty, students, and staff at Manhattanville College, I am deeply honored to welcome Governor Andrew Cuomo back to the College. It is a special privilege for us at Manhattanville to host the Governor during his first few months in office and we are excited to learn more about his vision for New York.
Manhattanville has a long and rich tradition of fostering social justice, community service, and civic responsibility. Governor Cuomo exemplifies these qualities and through his previous roles in public service and his current role as governor, serves as a model for my students, so I am proud to have him here with us today."
