AnthonyDavidsonI am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Anthony R. Davidson as Dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS), who will join the Manhattanville leadership team this summer. Thanks are due to the Search Committee, co-chaired by Trustee Kathleen McGahran and Professor James Bryan, in identifying a leader with creative vision, a global view, exemplary leadership and a strong commitment to teaching and scholarship.

As Dean of GPS, Anthony will be responsible for creating a strategy to compete in global markets; vision and leadership for the School's next phase of transformation and growth; providing collegial and collaborative administrative leadership to faculty; initiating and building strong relationships with the local business and professional communities; and serving as an advocate and champion for GPS within Manhattanville and to external audiences.

Anthony draws upon his distinctive combination of experiences as a university dean, successful consultant, and an entrepreneur. He has spent the past 25 years leading organizations and managing key initiatives across a wide range of industries, and generating new growth opportunities that create enduring value.

After fifteen years of teaching and developing curricula at major universities in the New York metropolitan area, he accepted a position as Professor and Director of Graduate Programs at New York University's School of Continuing and Professional Studies where he was subsequently asked to become the founding Dean of the Division of Programs in Business.  While at NYU, Anthony conceptualized and established 14 graduate programs that deliver specialized knowledge in the areas of IT, Risk Management, Strategy & Leadership, Human Resource Management, Public Relations, Integrated Marketing, Project Management, and Health Care Management, in an applied, interdisciplinary business context.   In combination with the development of new professional programs and the redesign of existing ones, he was able to reach untapped markets and grow the Division to not only having the largest graduate student body in the School but also the most professional and executive education enrollments.

Dr. Davidson ran a very successful Business Mastery Certificate program in the Dominican Republic which drew the attention of the government, culminating in a personal visit by President Fernandez to Dr. Davidson's office in New York.  He was subsequently asked to lead an advisory group to address the President, government ministers, National Bank and senior business leaders at an economic summit held in the Dominican Republic and continues to enjoy a close personal and professional relationship with the President and with industry.

Anthony is the author/co-author of over 50 publications, keynote speeches and presentations on various business topics, training, and development, and has been quoted in the New York Times, International Herald Tribune, Crain's New York Business, HR Magazine, and Fortune Magazine. He has also been interviewed on CNN, WB11, and Good Morning America in segments devoted to business, online education, and organizational development.  He is a member of the Executive Advisory Board for E-Learn, the Board of Trustees for Med-Smart, and various Advisory Boards for businesses, not-for-profits and charitable organizations.

Anthony received his Ph.D. in Management and Systems Science from the Cass Business School, City University of London and an MBA and BBA from Baruch College, City University of New York.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Anthony Davidson to the Manhattanville College Community.

Sincerely,

Gail Simmons
