Deborah Symons Faculty Profile ImageProf. Deborah K. Symons a native of Barcelona, Spain, graduated in 1987 with a Masters Degree from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) in Spanish and English Translation, Interpretation and Linguistics with a specialization in Translation in communications. She also studied creative writing in Beverly Hills, LA. And is now finishing her MFA in Creative Writing at Manhattanville College. 

Prof. Symons lives in Connecticut and has worked as an Adjunct and Visiting Professor of Spanish Language, Literature, History and Culture in various Universities in Connecticut and New York since 2003, among them: Norwalk Community College, Fairfield University, Sacred Heart University, Housatonic Community College, Charter Oak College, SUNY Purchase, Iona and Manhattanville College.

After working for show business as a writer, producer and actor for more than ten years, Prof. Symons left Spain in 1994 to travel the world and pursue her career as a writer. She has written five novels, two screenplays and several children's stories. One of her novels "Stutz" was published and can be found in amazon.com. One of her short stories has been recently published in the prestigious literary magazine Ventana Abierta at UC Santa Barbara, CA. Prof.

Symons currently teaches Spanish Translation, Linguistics and Creative Writing, Public Speaking in Spanish and is currently also part of the PhD program of Hispanic Literature and Languages at Stony Brook University in NY.
