Shelley B. Wepner, Ph.D.Dean and Professor
Shelley B. Wepner is Dean and Professor of Education in the School of Education at Manhattanville College. She was a K-12 teacher and administrator for nine years in three districts in New Jersey before becoming a faculty member and administrator in higher education. Prior to her position at Manhattanville College, she was a faculty member and administrator at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey, and Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy education and technology in education, and has served as a supervisor of student teachers. She has served as editor of The Reading Instruction Journal of the New Jersey Reading Association and a column editor for The Reading Teacher of the International Reading Association. She served as the chairperson of the Technology and Teacher Education Committee of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. She has published over 130 articles, book chapters, software packages, and books, which are most recently related to connections between K-12 education and higher education and leadership skills for effectively supporting teacher education and literacy development. Her most recent co-edited books are The Administration and Supervision of Reading Programs, 4th edition, and Collaborative Leadership in Action: Partnering for Success in Schools, both published by Teachers College Press. She currently is coauthoring a book with five School of Education colleagues, entitled Changing Suburbs, Changing Students: Helping School Leaders Face the Challenges, to be published by Corwin, which features the work that they are doing with the Changing Suburbs Institute®, the signature community outreach initiative for the School of Education. |
