Sapan Parikh, Ph.D.

Sapan Parikh, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, joined Manhattanville College faculty in 2007. Professor Parikh is a biological chemist with strong interests in bioorganic chemistry and chemical biology with emphasis on enzymology.

Prior to joining Manhattanville College, Professor Parikh was a NIH postdoctoral scholar in biochemistry at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he studied novel drug design for bacterial protein toxins under the direction of Vern L. Schramm. Professor Parikh completed his doctorate in 2000 under the guidance of Peter J. Tonge at Stony Brook University. There he provided important insight towards the development of therapeutics to combat multi-drug resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Professor Parikh received his B.S. in Chemistry from Syracuse University in 1995.

Professor Parikh has served as Chair of Faculty Service Committee and currently Chairs the Faculty Committee on Academic Technology and Committee for the Biochemistry Major. He is also a current member of the Faculty Budget Committee, Institutional Review Board for Human Subject and The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.
