Anna Sachko Gandolfi, Ph.D.

Ryan/Bacardi Professor of Economics

Dr. Anna Sachko Gandolfi is the Ryan/Bacardi Professor of Economics and the Director of the Economic Freedom Institute. She has been with Manhattanville College for over 20 years and has served as the Chair of the Economics, Finance and Management department from 2007-2010. She also currently serves on the Review Committee and has served on several search committees and prestigious college committees including the Status Committee and the Academic Policy Committee of which she was Chair.

Prior to joining Manhattanville, she was an Assistant Professor of Economics at Fairfield University and before that worked for the Equitable Life Assurance Society, now AXA Equitable, where she served as Director of Econometric Analysis.

She received her B.A. from Barnard College and her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in economics from Columbia University. She has published scholarly articles and done research in insurance, finance and money & banking and in 2002 published a book, Economics as an Evolutionary Science: From Utility to Fitness, co-authored with her husband, Dr. Arthur Gandolfi, an economist, forecaster and managing director at Citibank and Professor David Barash, an evolutionary psychologist at the University of Washington in Seattle. The book was published by Transactions Press of Rutgers University.

Anna Gandolfi was President of the Connecticut/Westchester Chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI). She is currently a member of the FEI, the American Economic Association and the Eastern Economic Association and was President of the Byram Hills Board of Education and the first President of the Manhattanville Faculty Alliance.

She and her husband have three children and two grandchildren.
