Ross Collin

Ross Collin is Assistant Professor of Literacy Studies in Manhattanville College's School of Education. In his classes and in his research, he examines schooling in times of socio-economic transformation. More specifically, he investigates how literacy and literacy instruction serve (or fail to serve) the social, political, and economic needs of different groups. His current research project is focused on debates over immigration and literacy instruction. Ross has published articles on literacy and the politics of schooling in journals including Educational Policy and Discourse: Studies in the Cultural Politics of Education. He has also presented papers on these topics at regional and national conferences. At Manhattanville College, Ross teaches classes including: Language, Literacy, and Culture; Literacy in the Content Areas; and Approaches to Literacy Research.
