Position:  Assistant Director for Rose Institute
Department:  School of Education

The Assistant Director is a 12-month, administrative position to work with the Professor/Director of the Rose Institute for Learning and Learning to develop, implement, and oversee a newly established program for graduate students.

Responsibilities: Assist the Professor/Director with all matters related to the program such as the following:

  • Coursework and practicum for the 13-credit certificate program
  • Communication and collaboration with the Reading Reform Foundation of New York
  • Personnel on campus from various offices (e.g., Graduate Admissions, Graduate Advising, School of Education, Registrar, Financial Aid) to market the program, schedule courses, and admit and advise students
  • School of Education's partnership schools and other interested schools to develop specific guidelines for practicum (in-school training)
  • Key personnel in all interested schools to establish and implement a protocol for the practicum
  • Marketing strategies to recruit and advise students
  • Quarterly reports to submit to the program's funder
  • Program sequence manual
  • Scheduling of meetings, events, and courses
  • Management of calendar
  • Assistance with students and faculty involved with the program
  • Special projects and research

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of phonics and multisensory instruction such as the Orton-Gillingham approach at the K-12 level
  • An earned master's degree in the appropriate area
  • Experience with administrative work in higher education
