The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing program at Manhattanville recently celebrated the launch of its new online literary journal, The Manhattanville Review. The new journal replaces INKWELL, the traditional print literary magazine produced by the writing program in past years.

Nicole Bauso '12 landed a competitive spot as a performer on one of the Disney Cruise Line ships, "The Wonder." Bauso is currently undergoing a rigorous training process in Toronto, Canada and will be traveling to the Caribbean, Bahamas and Mexican Riviera soon.

Anthony Davidson, Dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS), recently visited the Dominican Republic National Palace, by invitation of President Leonel Fernandez. During his visit, he discussed plans for collaboration between Manhattanville College and educational institutions in the Dominican Republic.

Over 40 volunteers have worked to create a productive and thriving organic garden at the Environmental Park on the Manhattanville College campus. The garden started in March has made significant progress over the past few months. In fact, ten pounds of kale and five pounds of green beans have already been donated to the Food Bank of Westchester. And some nights you can find the fresh produce in the campus cafeteria.

Junior Ali Hoyt interned at the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry (BIMP), a part of the University of Connecticut's Bolton College, this summer helping to catalog and preserve Frank Ballard marionettes. She is spending her fall semester doing research in The Republic of Guinea, West Africa, where she plans to learn the traditional techniques of creating and performing as an apprentice puppeteer.

Twelve Biology seniors presented at the Tri-Beta NE-1 District Convention at Pace University on April 29, 2012. Neeta Yousaf '12 won the First Place Frank G. Brooks Award in the Oral Platform category, the top award. Her research focused on the small bioavailable sodium dichloroacetate molecule, its ability to restore mitochondrial function to cells, and the implications for cancer cells, as well as neurotoxin-induced Parkinson's disease.

Craig Donnelly, Duchesne Center for Religion and Social Justice Coordinator, will be honored by the Westchester Arc for his exceptional support for people with developmental disabilities with the 2012 Community Partnership Award.

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Senior men's tennis star Michael Capozzi (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/San Judas Tadeo) added one more history-making feather in his cap to conclude his celebrated Valiant career this week, earning Capital One Academic All-America recognition for the second straight year with a spot on the Division III Men's At-Large first team, as selected and announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Tuesday afternoon.

Mark Nowak, director of the Master of Arts in Writing Program, will be a keynote speaker at the Poetry & Revolution International Conference at Birkbeck University of London. The conference, which runs from Friday, May 25 to Sunday, May 27, is co-organized and supported by the Contemporary Poetics Research Centre.

Manhattanville College hosted its annual Academic Awards Reception on May 2, 2012. Awards were given to students who demonstrated excellence in academics.

Several Manhattanville College students have earned competitive summer internships. This summer students are interning at companies in many fields, including five students at MasterCard Worldwide, two students at Morgan Stanley, and a group of young journalists working at different publications in New York City, just to mention a few accomplishments.

The Manhattanville College Management Capstone Class participated in The Business Strategy Game, an online simulation that runs for 10 weeks for the first time this semester. For the week ending April 29, one Manhattanville team made the top 100 lists for two measures, out of 2927 teams at 210 schools.

The School of Education presented the first annual Marissa Pagli Award to rising senior Danielle Scicutella. She is a student in the five-year B.A./M.A.T. program in elementary education and mathematics.

Senior Eleanor Schlegel raised $900 dollars for clean water supplies through the Gift of Water program. Schlegel developed the project as part of the Castle Scholars' Senior Retreat.
