Andy Pelosi `86
President/Founder GunFreeKids.org and Director of The Campaign to Keep Guns Off Campus
What being an alumnus means to me...
Manhattanville provided me with a special opportunity to become exposed to a diverse community of young people, while nurturing a commitment to work in the area of social justice.
Called a “committed, effective activist” by NY State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, Andy is the founder and director of GunFreeKids.org and The Campaign to Keep Guns off Campus. Andy has over 17 years of grassroots advocacy experience, including 15 years working as a gun violence prevention advocate. As the first executive director of New Yorkers Against Gun Violence (NYAGV) and New Yorkers Against Gun Violence Ed Fund, Pelosi developed legislative strategies, grew the organization’s budget, launched a high school youth program and led successful campaigns to pass comprehensive gun violence prevention legislation at the local and state levels. Andy is currently leading a national campaign in 15 states to oppose legislation that would allow guns on campus.
