What being an alumna means to me...
Choosing Manhattanville was one of the best decisions I ever made. The four years that I spent on campus studying, socializing and working, prepared me for the diverse life that I have led. Living on campus with some of the greatest people I’ve ever known for four years was fabulous!
I attribute so much of who I am today to my time at Manhattanville. The education and support were excellent. The extra-curricular opportunities were varied and provided opportunities to try new things. While in college, I found my love for diverse cultures and English language learners from participating in clubs and social events on campus.
After working fifteen years in business, I finally fulfilled my dream to be an ESL teacher. I taught children in kindergarten through twelfth grade for 8 years. I am currently teaching in a public special education high school in New York City, as well as holding adjunct positions at Nassau Community College and St. John’s University. A lifelong learner, I currently attend St. John’s University where I am earning my doctorate in Instructional Leadership and Technology.
My greatest accomplishment to date is my child, Natalia. Together we spend many hours exploring and learning new things. We tour the US every chance we get. Our goal is to visit all fifty states before she starts college in 2016. Luckily, she loves to travel almost as much as I do.
Manhattanville gave me the freedom to explore who I was, who I wanted to be, and where I wanted to go. I developed confidence and knowledge, two important qualities that have carried me through life. I worked hard, made important life decisions, and gained amazing new friends, all while having the time of my life!
