|Meet an MFA Alum|
"Manhattanville College isn't just a place to earn a degree, I could have done that anywhere. Manhattanville is a place of transformation, it is a place of fulfilled expectation, and it is a place dreams manifest," says Erika Kimberly Stanley, pictured above reading at the 2nd Annual MFA Spotlight at the Hudson Valley Writers' Center.
Erika came to Manhattanville after completing an undergraduate degreee in English at the University of Connecticut and working for several years in the publishing field.
"I experienced more than I ever thought possible while attending Manhattanville College's writing program," Erika says. "I found a family of writer enthusiasts to share my journey with and I met my phenomenal mentor."While an MFA student at Manhattanville, Erika served as Editor of The Manhattanville Review while completing a thesis in poetry. "Since I've graduated I've facilitated a youth poetry workshop in Bridgeport, CT and participated in the PageTurner Festival hosted by the Asian American Writing Workshop. I've also switched career paths and am now working as a Parent Organizer in the education reform movement."
