Visual Arts Education

Manhattanville offers two graduate programs in Art Education leading to initial/ professional New York State certification in Visual Arts, all grades: a Master of Arts in Teaching program and an Advanced Certification program.  Both programs prepare candidates to teach Art in all grades from pre-school through 12th grade.

Candidates are expected to complete all New York State liberal arts prerequisites, a course in Child Development, required state tests and required state seminars in Child Abuse and violence Prevention seminars.  Candidates in the Master of Arts in Teaching program must complete either a Comprehensive Examination or Final Project.
