Dr. Greene is the founder of the Maxine Greene Foundation. The foundation directs its primary attention to the intersections among various modes of social action and engagements with the arts. It is concerned with supporting the creation of and informed appreciation of works that embody fresh social visions and that move people to perceive alternative possibilities for the making of humane communities. Dr. Greene received a PH.D. in the Philosophy of Education from New York University. She became Philosopher-in-Residence at the Lincoln Center Institute for the Arts in Education and was the first female president of the American Educational Research Association in 31 years. A large group of over 200 students, alumni, and faculty attended the event to hear the esteemed and highly respected Dr. Greene.
