Manhattanville College has reactivated the student chapter of the international organization for exceptional individuals, familiarly known as CEC. We encourage all undergraduate, graduate and alumni of Manhattanville College interested in the education and social-emotional well being of exceptional students to participate in our chapter. There are opportunities for service, leadership and professional development at the college, state and national organizational levels. Get involved-we need you and you need CEC!
A membership drive will be held each fall. This year the membership meeting will be held in September. At this meeting, students will have the opportunity to save 10% on membership dues. Manhattanville College will also sponsor 3-4 special events throughout the year with presentations of topics of interest to students who work with and serve all students with exceptionality.
CEC is dedicated to improving outcomes for students of all ability. This organization acts as an advocate and guide in matters of federal legislation, professional standards, professional development, education of school personnel and families, effective classroom practice and resources available for effective professional practice. In addition, CEC has 17 divisions for specialized information, sponsors journals and newsletters, and hosts conferences and conventions at the local, state and national level.
