School of Education Scholarships and Discounts

Academic Scholarships

We are pleased to announce that the School of Education is awarding Graduate Scholarships to any incoming graduate student possessing a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.2 or higher and registered for nine credits or more their first semester. Students applying to the School of Education Graduate program may be entitled to one of the following academic scholarships.

Alumni Scholarship

$1,000

  • Academic scholarships are available for one semester only.
  • Students must be accepted as a matriculated student in the graduate program to be eligible and registered for graduate coursework through the School of Education.
  • Students receiving the Alumni Scholarship are eligible each semester that they are enrolled for nine credits or more of graduate coursework through the School of Education.
  • Scholarships may NOT be combined with any other scholarship or discount offered through a partnership program.

Fast Start

For Graduating Manhattanville College Seniors
3.0 cumulative GPA required
20% tuition discount for continuous full-time enrollment

Fast Start students with a GPA of 3.6 or better will also receive a one-time award, Advanced Scholarship of an additional $1000.

Students may NOT combine the Fast Start and Alumni Scholarships.

Discount for Religious School Educators

A 25% tuition discount will be made available to teachers and administrators employed by a religiously-affiliated school accredited by New York State or the federal government.

Criteria for Eligibility

  • Full acceptance into Manhattanville College School of Education Master's program
  • Must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Employment at a school with a religiously affiliated organization

To obtain the discount, the student must provide proof of employment from the school's principal on official school letterhead. The letter should be directed to the Graduate Advising office before the student registers.

Scholarships may not be combined with any other institutionally funded scholarships 

Diversity Scholarship

Scholarships will be awarded each year to new applicants from culturally diverse backgrounds. These scholarships are intended to support the changing school population needs.

One-third (1/3rd) tuition discount (does not include fees) will be awarded for all courses in a masters degree program.

One Diversity Scholarship will be available in each of the following programs:

  • Early Childhood
  • Childhood
  • Literacy
  • Physical Education
  • Secondary Education
  • Special Education
  • TESOL
  • Art/Music
  • Educational Leadership
  • Educational Studies

Application Process:

  • Applicants should submit a letter of application explaining why they would be an appropriate choice.
  • Two letters of support should be included regarding the applicant's potential contributions to K-12 education.

A completed financial need form (FAFSA) should be attached to the letter of application.

Selection Criteria:

  • Representative of diverse background
  • Documentation of financial need
  • Evidence of teaching potential (recommendations)

The Mary K. Humphrey Endowed Scholarship in Special Education

 

The Mary K. Humphreys Endowed Scholarship in Special Education is an award to students in honor of the memory of Mary K. Humphreys who dedicated her life to the education of children with special needs. She received an undergraduate degree in education and a master's degree in special education from Manhattanville College. To honor her memory, the friends and family of Mary K. Humphreys have established this scholarship for Special Education at Manhattanville College.

The successful candidate should demonstrate a passion for and sensitivity to the needs of children with special needs. This candidate should personify the ideals, compassion, and work ethic of Mary K. Humphreys. The candidate will demonstrate perseverance in enriching the quality of life of children. This candidate will be a life-long learner.

Criteria for Selection

  • Acceptance into the Master's program in Special Education (includes dual certification)
  • 3.25 GPA for undergraduate students or 3.5 GPA for graduate students
  • 2 letters of recommendation from professional sources
  • Personal statement about one's commitment to students with special needs

The Changing Suburbs Institute® and Manhattanville College Collaborative

Teachers from Bedford, Elmsford, Greenburgh 7, New Rochelle, Ossining, Port Chester and White Plains receive 1/3 tuition discount for all courses registered through the School of Education.
Teachers from Mamaroneck and Peekskill receive 20% tuition discount.

Jump Start Discount

Students interested in obtaining certification as math, science or TESOL teachers through our accelerated program, Jump Start, are now eligible for a 30% tuition discount.

Discount for Graduates of MAT in Physical Education

Graduates of Manhattanville's MAT in Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy progam will receive a 20% discount in they enroll in the Health & Wellness Specialist Advanced Certificate program.

Educational Leadership discount for Manhattanville Graduates

Graduates of Manhattanville at either the Bachelor's or Master's level will receive 20% discount for educational leadership programs.

Returned Peace Corps Volunteer

A 50% tuition discount will be awarded to all RPCV's participating in the Jump Start accelerated teacher education program.

Criteria for Eligibility

  • Full acceptance into Manhattanville College School of Education Master's program
  • Must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Proof of Returned Peace Corps Volunteer status

Teachers in Transition

In keeping with our commitment to our partners in the educational community, Manhattanville College School of Education is pleased to announce a special initiative to assist teachers who have been affected by lay-offs (within the preceding academic year) across our region. We will offer 1/3rd tuition discount for all those interested in taking courses, seeking a new degree, or getting an additional certification to further their credentials and improve their professional marketability. This discount can be applied to any credits accrued within one calendar year. This discount is contingent upon proof of unemployment due to fiscal exigency.


 

 

  • Scholarships may not be combined (except Fast Start and Advanced if eligible).
  • Scholarships may not be used if a student is receiving any other discount (i.e. through partnership programs), is a graduate assistant, or is receiving tuition assistance from Manhattanville College or any other employer.
  • Scholarships cover the cost of tuition only. Does not cover fees, books, or other costs.
