The School of Graduate and Professional Studies at Manhattanville College is proud to offer a two-part online Certificate in Paralegal Studies that will prepare you to join the legal profession in just nine months. This self-paced online program is convenient, practical, and affordable with classes beginning every other month throughout the year.

The Executive Certificate in Paralegal Studies is the first portion of the program and a prerequisite for admission into the Advanced Certificate in Paralegal Studies. Each certificate is comprised of three courses and lasts six weeks, with a one week break in between each course. The Executive Certificate courses include:

• Introduction to Legal Studies & Ethics
• Legal Research and Writing
• Civil Litigation

The Advanced Certificate in Paralegal Studies is the final step in completing your education program. The Advanced Certificate courses include:

• Torts
• Contracts
• Wills, Trusts, Estates and Probate

This certificate program offers unique benefits to all students:

• Practical Application – a focus on the skills that employers most desire including interviewing clients, gathering facts, legal research, legal writing and much more.
• Practicum Portfolio – all students will create a portfolio of written motions, legal documents and legal writing as part of a Practicum Portfolio. The portfolio may be presented to prospective employers during job interviews.
• Placement Services – including resume writing, interview techniques and job placement assistance.

The program focuses on the skills that employers most desire, and all program participants will have assistance from a nationwide law placement firm which will help all graduates with resume writing, interviewing skills and finding the right legal professional position.
