Frequently Asked Questions about the Masters in Finance Degree Program

Q: Are the Finance classes only offered in the evening and on weekends?

A:  Classes are offered during a weeknight and weekend format. Some classes are offered once a week and other classes are only weekend format (Saturday and Sunday).

Q: Do I need a GRE to enter the MS in Finance program?

A:  We do not require any test scores for admission to the Finance program (or any program)

Q: When is the application deadline?

A:  There is no application deadline but we suggest completing your application at least two weeks before classes begin so that you may have time for advising and registering for classes.

Q: What are the requirements to apply to the MS in Finance Program?

A:  For your finance application you are required to submit a resume, personal statement, two letters of recommendation, and your official undergraduate transcripts. We make admissions decisions based on a formula score which considers your GPA, work experience, recommendations, and quality of your personal statement. Please see here for the formula details.

Q: Will I be able to switch concentrations if I change my mind?

A: We will always try to be accommodating to students wanting to change programs, however we cannot guarantee that all credits will transfer over to your new program.

Q: Do you offer any financial aid?

Q: Can I transfer credits from another college?

A:  After you have completed your application and been accepted we will do an official transcript evaluation. We will accept up to 6 credits from another college. During the application process if you would like a preliminary idea of how many credits will be accepted you may request an unofficial transcript evaluation. 

Q: Are there any internship opportunities?

A: Our Center for Career Development is available to graduate students for assistance on finding internships and networking opportunities.  They will also assist you with resume review and interview preparation.  Our faculty and program directors are actively working in their fields of expertise and are always willing to help a student find an internship.  SOB also offers multiple networking events throughout the academic year for students to take advantage of.
