Online Executive Certificate in Managing Risk

The market for higher quality providers of risk management services is growing significantly as a consequence of the collapse of companies at the beginning of the last decade, the recent financial collapse, an increasing number of debacles around the globe such as the BP Macondo oil spill, Hurricane Katrina, the Indonesian tsunami, earthquake in Haiti, earthquake, tsunami and nuclear reactor catastrophe in Japan, and a host of other events. Continued regulatory pressure on Boards of Directors by institutions such as the SEC, the Department of Justice, the FCPA, rating agencies, and company stakeholders to maintain more sound risk management practices in place, will only intensify.

The Education and Research Center for Managing Risk is regarded by thought leaders and professional organizations to be the first of its kind in the United States that takes a truly holistic approach to the management of risk following the principles of ISO 31000. Its educational goals are to inform and train in the areas of best practices and communication to produce professionals who can positively and proactively promote the introduction of more sophisticated systems for managing risk.

There has been a proliferation of many excellent models of risk management around the globe, including ISO 31000. To further the Center's goals of advancing the risk discipline and to meet the demand for education/ training in the most current approaches to managing risk, our Executive Advisory Council has helped us design a comprehensive certificate that introduces such models, lays out how they should be used in case study format and clearly demonstrates the benefits to the high-end risk practitioner. We are confident that this program will provide scholars and practitioners alike with the skills and knowledge necessary to inculcate a risk aware culture that drives better decision-making and governance to attain strategic objectives.
