For all families, financing a college education can be a challenge. Scholarships are key to ensuring that Manhattanville can continue to attract and retain a diverse student body, and to ensure that all qualified students have access to the opportunities afforded by a Manhattanville education. Through the generosity of alumni, corporations, trustees and friends of the College, Manhattanville is able to supplement institutional financial aid with scholarships for academically talented students with financial need.
Gifts to endowed scholarship funds help ease the financial burden for students and families, while strengthening the College's financial position through growth of the endowment. Donors can also choose to make a current use scholarship gift to the College, which provide financial assistance to students during the current academic year.
Establishing an Endowed Scholarship Fund at Manhattanville
Endowed funds create a permanent resource to assist students, with the College using the return on investment to provide scholarships every year in perpetuity. Endowed scholarship funds are usually established with a minimum $50,000 commitment, which can be paid over several years, but we are happy to work with donors to start funds at different amounts.
All endowed scholarships are awarded based on financial need, but the Advancement Office will work with donors to develop a set of specific criteria for the award. For instance, a donor might wish to direct the fund to support students within a particular area of study or from a specific geographic region.
Individuals are also welcome to contribute to an existing endowed scholarship fund at Manhattanville.
