Since that 16th-century quote was uttered at halftime of a Manhattanville men's basketball game in 1974 and spurred the home team on to victory, Manhattanville's athletic teams have been known by one of the most distinctive nicknames in college sports - The Valiants. And since then, the school has spent over 35 years proving that all things are, in fact, possible. Collectively, Valiant teams have earned 48 conference regular-season championships and 39 conference tournament titles in program history, and as a result the school has made 30 appearances in the NCAA Tournament. On an individual level, the school has boasted 27 All-America selections all time, including 23 since the 1999-00 season alone. Overall, more than 325 Valiant student-athletes (nearly 20 percent of the student body) take part in intercollegiate athletics each year via the school’s 20 varsity sports, not including the newly formed women's golf program that will start play in 2012-13. Outside the field of play, the department also boasts an average cumulative GPA of 3.20 and averages more than 1,000 hours of community service per year. Be sure to check out our athletics website, GoValiants.com, for all the latest news and information regarding all of Manhattanville’s 20 varsity sports. If you're interested in watching or listening to the Valiants in action either at home or on the road, the department also boasts one of the most extensive audio and video broadcasting networks in Division III, with well over 100 games streamed annually.
