Reunion 2012 Re-Cap

June 13, 2012

Dear Alumni,

Campus is still buzzing with excitement following the weekend’s events at Reunion 2012! We were delighted to welcome you back to campus for your Reunion, and hope you enjoyed your time catching up with old friends and perhaps even meeting new ones.

On behalf of the College, we thank you for attending this celebration. We hope that you found the scheduled programming gave you a glimpse of the Manhattanville that you know and love, and the insight into what is to come for the College. President Jon Strauss and Mrs. Strauss truly enjoyed their time meeting with alumni, and look forward to seeing you all again at future events. One of the many highlights of the weekend was honoring our 2012 alumni award recipients: Sook Nyul Choi `62, Mary Kay Tracy Farley `57, and Alissa Tyghter `07 for their distinguished accomplishments within their fields of work and dedicated service, both to the College and others. It was especially rewarding to honor Jeanette Michael `72 posthumously for her life-long dedication to the College, and to welcome her family to accept a Distinguished Alumni Award on her behalf.

The weekend closed with a very special luncheon, “Honoring our Women of the Sacred Heart”. This unique event, hosted by Trustee Nancy Roberts King `66, was an extraordinary tribute to our Sacred Heart legacy. Paula Toner RSCJ `65, current US Provincial for the Society of the Sacred Heart, shared with us the impact Manhattanville of the Sacred Heart played on her formation, and how she continues to pay forward the lessons and morals she learned at Manhattanville. Alice Burns `70, Vice President for the Associated Alumnae/i of the Sacred Heart, also shared her Manhattanville memories and honored in particular three cherished “women of the Sacred Heart,” Mary T. Clark RSCJ `39, Ruth Dowd RSCJ `40 and Ann Conroy RSCJ `47. We were blessed to have in attendance Sisters Clark and Dowd, along with many other Religious alumnae and friends of the College, to help celebrate this significant legacy.

We look forward to continuing the celebrations at our upcoming summer events. Join President and Mrs. Strauss for an alumni reception at The Cosmopolitan Club in NYC on Thursday, June 21st. Trustees Nancy Roberts King `66 and Maura Burke Morey `62 will host events at their homes in Spring Lake, NJ and Hyannis Port, MA respectively in July and August.  Thank you for your continued support! Enjoy your summer and we hope to see you at our exciting events!
