What being an alumnus means to me....
In November of 2010, I opened a law office in White Plains, New York called The Mulraine Firm. As a graduate of Manhattanville College '96, I can't help but think about the role that Manhattanville has played on my professional and personal life. As a young man from the Bronx, my career goal was to be an investigator for a government agency. I felt Manhattanville's Political Science department would best prepare me but I never imagined the opportunities that it would create.
While attending Manhattanville, I interned in Vice President Albert Gore's Legal Counsel in Washington DC. The experience allowed me to meet with President Bill Clinton and former President George W Bush. In my final year, I interned in Congresswoman Nita Lowey's White Plains office. As graduation approached, I felt both confident and prepared. My course of study, internships and passion for my chosen career path, I obtained a position as a Confidential Investigator for the City of New York.
Armed with the confidence, gained from Manhattanville, I worked for the City for a year before I enrolled in law school. I attended the University at Buffalo, School of law, where I was welcomed by a host of Manhattanville graduates. I went on to work as a Legal Consultant for New York Life Insurance, while pursuing a certificate in Entertainment & Media Management at New York University.
Manhattanville has also had an impact on my personal life because it is the place where I met my wife. My wife and I met as freshmen and were later married in the castle.
