Thursday, November 21
President’s Dining Room, Reid Castle
The Dowd, O'Gorman Readers [Barat House Readers] invite you to participate in its November 21st discussion of two short stories, Wolf Angel by Angela Carter, and Recitatif by Toni Morrison. We will be looking, comparatively, at the portrayal of women by these two authors.
We are a group who have participated in the Thursday evening Barat House Readers discussion programs started more than two decades ago by Sister Ruth Dowd. When Ruth retired and Barat House itself reconfigured to meet new College needs, a core group continued the semesterly schedule model, meeting at each other's homes for the committed collegial discussions we experienced at Barat House. We are working towards helping the College reclaim the wonderful Lifelong Learning opportunities the Barat House history demonstrated. Our goal, working with The College administration, is to have ready for the 2014-2015 academic year a pilot program sponsored by, and offered at the College. We are exploring Alumni interest and welcome your presence and seek your participation.
If you are interested in attending, please contact Tom Taaffe at firstname.lastname@example.org
