|Former Valiant Mickey Lang Continues to Excel in Professional Ranks|
Since graduating from Manhattanville three years ago, former Valiant men’s hockey forward Mickey Lang ’11 has been lighting up the professional hockey ranks. After an All-American career in college, Lang signed on with the CHL’s Quad City Mallards for two years and earlier this season spent his second stint in the American Hockey League, the second-highest level of professional hockey in North America behind only the NHL.He scored his first career AHL goal earlier this year for the Iowa Wild (watch it here!) and is averaging over a point per game so far in his three-year professional career. In his first 46 games of 2013-14, Lang has already scored 37 goals with 24 assists for 61 points between the Fort Wayne Komets and the Orlando Solar Bears, leading the ECHL in goals by a double-digit margin and also ranking third in the league in total points.
Lang, who was named the third AHCA first-team All-American in program history as a junior in 2010, is the third Manhattanville player to reach the AHL, joining Neil Clark’06 and fellow All-American Andrew Gallant ’07. The Valiant hockey programs have produced at least 30 players that have gone on the play in the professional ranks since 2000.
