Inspiration for Professor Wells' book came out of her courses on Austen, including her First-Year Seminar on Pride and Prejudice and my English course "Jane Austen and Popular Culture." Research for the book was made possible by a sabbatical leave and summer grants. A celebration of the book's publication took place on Wed., April 11th, at 7 p.m., in the Current Periodicals Room of the Library, as part of the Library's Faculty Lecture Series. Juliette gave a presentation, titled "Face to Face with Jane Austen," on the topic of recent portraits of Austen. Books were available for purchase and signing.
