Ranny Ferguson '68 & Husband selected as Dignity & Respect Champions

Ranny and Jay FergusonEvery month since February 2010, an individual or group has been nominated by a co-worker, friend, mentor, or admirer to be recognized as a Dignity & Respect Champion of Greater Pittsburgh. A Dignity & Respect Champion is someone who lives his or her life in a way that makes others feel respected and valued. Manhattanville College graduate Ranny Ferguson, Class of 1968 and her husband Jay have been selected as the December 2011 Dignity & Respect Champions.

The documentary ETHEL will headline the Sundance Film Festival 2012. The film is directed by her academy award winning daughter, Rory Kennedy. The Manhattanville Library Archives were used for portions of the film.

Elizabeth Tierney MAT '68, Author of Dignifying Dementia

Dignifying DementiaDignifying Dementia, A Caregiver's Struggle by Elizabeth Tierney MAT '68

Elizabeth Tierney has written a beautiful book called Dignifying Dementia. Her husband, Jim was diagnosed with dementia in 1997 and lived at home during his illness and died there in January 2006. Dignifying Dementia is both a love story and an attempt to reach out to others who are living through or who will live through a similar tragedy.

"Building Resilience in Children and Teens": Co-Author, Martha Moraghan Jablow '66

Building ResilienceThe American Academy of Pediatrics recently issued a second edition of "Building Resilience in Children and Teens" by Kenneth R. Ginsburg, MD and Martha Moraghan Jablow '66. Intended for parents, educators, and other child advocates, the book was first published in 2006. The 2011 edition is updated with additional chapters and is available through the AAP website and on Amazon. It is Ms. Jablow's tenth book, several of which are collaborations with physicians.
