Jason Rivera `97 Receives AAHHE/Ford Multidisciplinary Fellowship

Rivera JJason Rivera, Class of `97, is a 2014 American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education/Ford Multidisciplinary Graduate Student Fellow. The AAHHE/Ford Fellows Program provides Latina/o doctoral students interested in entering academia with unique scholarly and professional development opportunities. As an AAHHE/Ford Fellow, students are expected to develop a policy brief, further develop their research agenda, engage with faculty mentors, and present their work at the upcoming national conference. To be selected as an AAHHE/Ford Fellow, students must be full-time graduate students, identify as Latina/o, aspire to enter the professoriate, exhibit academic potential through past experience and future career goals, and demonstrate a strong track record of service to the Latina/o community.  Jason is pursuing a PhD in Teaching, Learning, Policy and Leadership at the University of Maryland College Park.  He cites the many leadership opportunities he had at Manhattnaville, including serving as the Latin American Student Organization President and the Student Government President as the cornerstone of his social justice lens and the catalyst for his interest in pursuing research and scholarship focused on Latinos.

Valiants Giving Back

The Manhattanville Department of Athletics has been very busy both on and off the fields of play during the fall semester, giving back to the community while also giving their all on the field and the court.

In just the first two months of the school year, Manhattanville’s 300 student-athletes have already logged more than 2,500 man hours of charity work on campus, in Westchester County and in Southern Connecticut, volunteering at a wide variety of events.

Holly Oliphant of Holland and Company Fine Art Inc invites you to meet the Master Colorist, Hedy Klineman at TIBET HOUSE on FRIDAY 8 NOVEMBER from 6-8PM. After experiencing the “cutting edge” of the downtown New York Art Scene, and hanging out with Warhol at the Factory, Klineman turned her artistic quest inward and produced a series of silk-screened images vibrating with a vivid palette. Klineman’s most recent expression of her artistic journey has produced the ongoing BUDDHAS IN MY GARDENS SERIES. Please join us Friday 8 November from 6-8pm.
