How to Apply

I. Application Process For Cooperative Programs

The application is a two-step process. The deadline for Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 programs is Friday, February 20, 2015.

DISCLOSURE

All candidates applying for Cooperative Program overseas study must be in good standing and not in violation of the College Code of Conduct.

It is the requirement of the candidate to disclose a statement explaining any past or current violations of the College Code.

Failure of any candidate to provide full disclosure of a violation of the College Code of Conduct will result in forfeiture of any favorable decision rendered by the Study Abroad Committee.

STEP 1.

(1) Students first submit an application packet to the Study Abroad Office at Manhattanville. At this time, applications are reviewed by the Study Abroad Selection Committee for approval.

(1.a)  Letters of recommendation:

  • 1st: required academic recommendation from faculty advisor or other faculty member in major area of study, indicating the effect of the off-campus study on completion of the major.
  • 2nd: academic recommendation from faculty member (perhaps faculty of student's minor area of study) 
  • 3rd: personal recommendation from a faculty or non-faculty member.

(2) General Study Plan and Major/Minor Checklist from the Portfolio

Deadlines

Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 programs is February 20, 2015. The above forms are available in the Study Abroad Office, or here on line (below). Follow the links. Completed applications must be received by the Study Abroad Office, Founders G20 no later than February 20.

STEP 2:

Those who have been approved by the Study Abroad Selection Committee must then submit a completed application to the host institution through the Study Abroad Office. Deadlines vary according to the program, so it is necessary that you obtain an application from the Manhattanville Study Abroad Office immediately upon receiving approval.

For acceptance to the host institution abroad, applicants must:

  • complete the required application.
  • apply for an official transcript from the Manhattanville Registrar.
  • obtain the required letters of recommendation.
  • submit the required medical forms (both the program's and Manhattanville's).
  • submit other documentation (photos, etc.) required by the program.

II. Application Process for Non-cooperative Programs

Students research the program they are interested in and follow up on their own ­ but have full access to Study Abroad facilities. All courses must be pre-approved!
