Robert Schmidlein, Ed.D.Assistant Professor Dr. Robert Schmidlein is originally from Chester, NY and began his love of physical education and sport during Mr. Payne's physical education classes. Dr. Schmidlein holds an Ed.D in Physical Education (Curriculum) from The University of Georgia, an M.S. in PE from Hofstra and a B.S. in Exercise Science from Lander University. Since graduating with his doctorate in 2008 he has presented nationally at AAHPERD, NAKPEHE and various state and local conferences. Additionally, he has published articles in a variety of physical education journals, such as Strategies, Research Quarterly, and several international journals. Currently, Dr. Schmidlein teachers curriculum and assessment courses as well as directing the Advanced Graduate Certificate in Health & Wellness program. As a consultant, he has presented on the topic of common core, literacy, and math, in addition to, curriculum models at various schools and he created a comprehensive curriculum guide to physical education. Previously, Dr. Schmidlein taught at California State University-Sacramento, The University of Georgia, Gainesville State University, and The Citadel. Before teaching at the university level, Dr. Schmidlein taught 3 years of public school physical education in the Bronx and Brooklyn. He currently resides in Brooklyn, NY and enjoys running, yoga and weight training.
