Kathleen Rockwood, Ed.D.

Associate Professor

Dr. Rockwood brings diverse background and leadership experience in different organizational settings that inform the design of the Educational Leadership program. Her varied roles in education include: Director of Office of Field Experience at Central Connecticut State University, Coordinator of the Professional Development School Network (CT), Director of the statewide Connecticut Leadership in Educational Administration Development Center (L.E.A.D.), CT Regional Facilitator for the Quality and Diversity Forum, Principal at the Greater Bridgeport Children's Services Center (CT), Learning Disabilities Specialist at the Mead School for Human Development (CT), Guidance Counselor for Action for Bridgeport Community Development (CT), and Special Education Teacher for the School for Contemporary Education (VA). 

Dr. Rockwood's primary research efforts have tracked the benefits of school-university partnerships, as evidenced in her extensive Professional Development School work. More recent research focuses on teacher leadership, the leader's role in community involvement, and examining how districts are building leadership capacity within their organizations through succession planning. Dr. Rockwood offers specific expertise in professional development design and facilitation, school improvement planning, differentiated supervision, leadership in learning communities, the leader's role in creating and sustaining partnerships, and developing and supporting school-wide action research that will impact teaching and learning.
