Robert M. Tufts, M.B.A.
MSBM 5002 Managing Sport Business Strategically Mr. Tufts received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Princeton University in 1977. His first career upon graduation was as a professional baseball player. Bob was a twelfth round draft choice by the San Francisco Giants in 1977. He appeared in the major leagues as a relief pitcher with the Giants in 1981 and the Kansas City Royals in 1982 and 1983. Upon retirement from baseball, he attended Columbia University School of Business Administration and received an MBA in Finance in 1986. He worked at Jefferies and Company, where he advised European private banks and clients regarding transactions in American and Canadian equities. Before Jefferies, Bob was a member of a futures and foreign exchange sales and trading group that worked together for twelve years. He held increasingly responsible positions at Bear Stearns, Credit Agricole, Lehman Brothers and Thomson McKinnon, specializing in the analysis of central bank activities and political events and their short and long term effects on capital markets. Bob is a member of the Princeton University Alumni Schools Committee. He is a board member of Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel and has served as a board member, advisory board member and volunteer for Winning Beyond Winning, which conducts sports clinics and lifeskills program for teenagers on Long Island. He is a past President of the New York State Chapter of the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association, and has participated in numerous youth baseball clinics on their behalf. Bob also conducted baseball clinics in Cooperstown for Jewish Major Leaguers, Inc. and in Israel for the Israel Association of Baseball. He also volunteered for the Princeton University Alumni Athletic Association and served on an athletic department search committee. He lives in Forest Hills, New York with his wife Suzanne. Their daughter Abigail is a senior at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. |
