Flora Lu Kuan
Piano, Music Theory
Flora Kuan, pianist, teaches piano, chamber music, and theory at Manhattanville College. She was formerly Chairperson of Music at the College of the Atlantic in Maine and has taught at Marymount College, Pace University, and Siena College. Her students have won regional, national, and international piano competitions. As a performer, Dr. Kuan has appeared as soloist with the Denver Symphony and the Portland Symphony and has collaborated with the Colorado Quartet and members of the New York Philharmonic. She has been featured on the Connecticut and Maine Touring Artists Programs, the Arcady International Music Festival in Maine, and is cited in Who's Who of American Keyboard Artists. She has performed at Lincoln Center, the Wadsworth Atheneum, and in colleges throughout the U.S.
Dr. Kuan received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Colorado and holds a Masters of Music degree from Peabody Conservatory and a B.A. from Cornell University. She has also served as Associate Director of the Arcady International Music Festival in Maine, National Vice President of the College Music Society, and Board Member and faculty of the Summit Music Festival in New York.
Manhattanville College is located in Purchase, New York on a beautiful 100-acre suburban campus, 10 minutes from downtown White Plains and just 30 miles from New York City. It has an amazingly diverse mix of students from more than 30 states and 50 countries. The College has 1,700 undergraduates and 1,000 graduate students.
