Hilda Green Demsky is a Clinical Field Supervisor for Art Education in the School of Education. Prior to her appointment at Manhattanville, she taught Art Education at White Plains High School for 21 years and, before that, she taught Art in junior high school in New York City. She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a BFA and Hunter College with an MA. Ms. Demsky is a noted artist who has received six national awards including a Fulbright Fellowship to The Netherlands, an Arts Education Fellowship from The National Endowment for the Arts and the Getty Center for Education in the Arts, and a Christa McAuliffe Fellowship from the U.S. Dept. of Education. She was selected as Art Educator of the Year by the New York State Art Teachers Assoc., Section 7, and Outstanding Art Educator in the Country from the Rhode Island School of Design.Her profiles in Who's Who publications include Who's Who in America, in American Art, in American Women, in American Education and in the World. A member of two New York City Galleries, Pleiades and Pen & Brush, she will be having a solo show,"Out of the Blue:Rivers of New York" from May 15 to June 2 at Pleiades, 530 W. 25th St. Her paintings of "Heaven and Earth" will be exhibited at the White Plains Library Museum Gallery from June 20 to Oct. 10. Her newest project for the coming year is "To create an exhibition of the Bronx River as a Great Community Resource in Westchester." This project was made possible by the Arts Alive Artist Grant Program of the Westchester Arts Council, with funding from the decentralization Artist Tier Program of the New York State Council on the Arts. She is the founder of the Arts Task Force of the Fulbright Association.
