Manhattanville Reid Castle In the Spring

Institutional Accreditation

Middle States Evaluation Follow-up April 15, 2011

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you to all for the work of the last twenty months as we prepared to host the Middle States Visiting Team. The Team will recommend to the Commission that the College be recognized as meeting all fourteen Standards of Excellence.

What is most gratifying is that the clearest area of strength in the College is our focus on teaching and learning and academic life, an institutional shift that they said they heard loudly and clearly. They suggested that we do more with gems in our curriculum, such as the fourth credit option and the e-portfolio, and they applauded gems in our co-curriculum, such as the Center for Career Development. They felt that we have a unique opportunity to create a signature Manhattanville Curriculum and appear to be well on the way to doing so. The College is surely poised to continue its steady march towards excellence.

The Team's visit and recommendations mark an important milestone of collective commitment by the College to our students and their development in and outside the classroom. I extend my deep-felt thanks to all those who participated in this process of institutional renewal. We have much work to do, but for now, let us celebrate the progress we have made together.
