Cliff Bond has been to the Olympics four times. He's been to the superbowl and the NCAA Final Four. He's been to the World Series. As a producer of radio and television sports programs, Cliff traveled the world covering sporting events. But after 17 years, he's left it all behind to become a teacher.
"I’ve always though about being a teacher," Cliff said. "But I thought it would be something I did when I retired. And I thought I'd teach broadcasting."
Then Cliff heard about the graduate program in Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy at Manhattanville College. The program, which began in the Fall of 2005, prepares candidates for N.Y.S. certification in Physical Education (all grades) as well as a MAT degree. "I had heard of Manhattanville's program, and of Dr. Rhonda Clements, and I thought - this is what I want to do with my life," said Cliff. "I'm going to be a physical education teacher, coach kids, maybe become an athletic director down the line. It's a perfect career change for me. I love sports. I love kids. I don’t enjoy sitting behind a desk in an office. And I want to make a difference if it’s at all possible."
