Parents & Families

Dear Parents and Families,

Greetings from Manhattanville College, where our traditions are rich and deep, our commitment to growth embraces the mind and body, heart and spirit, and where we take pride in rigorous academic and co-curricular programs which prepare students for ethical and socially-responsible leadership in a diverse, global, and interconnected world.

You are part of a growing Manhattanville family which is bound together by our enduring legacy of academic excellence, commitment to social justice, and immersion in service.

In the following pages, you will find information that will help you support your son or daughter as we shepherd each through one of the most important journeys of his or her life.  Please encourage your son or daughter to make the most of what Manhattanville has to offer:  small classes where each voice is valued; dedicated faculty who take pride in their role as scholar teachers; service and learning opportunities through the Duchesne and Connie Hogarth Centers; inter-collegiate and club sports which foster team development, leadership, and communal pride; a full spectrum of support that ranges from advising about class choices to assistance regarding internships and career options; and of course, our beautiful and historic campus, a testimony to our continuing commitment to environmental sustainability and historic preservation.

These pages will give you a glimpse of our vibrant campus life, which includes engrossing athletics and club sports as well as uplifting concerts, spectacular theatre, and inspiring dance productions.  I hope you will join us at some of these celebrations and see our students reach their fullest potential as athletes and thespians, dancers and musicians, team members and leaders.

Your engagement with the life of the College is an important component of the development of our students, so I hope you will return regularly to these pages for updates and information.

Most importantly, I hope that Manhattanville College will become for you, as it will for your son or daughter, much more than a beautiful campus in Purchase, but rather, a habit and a culture that endures, a way of thinking about life itself as demanding from each of us, a lifetime’s commitment to academic excellence and social responsibility towards each other and to future generations.

I look forward to continuing these conversations, and as we journey together through coming years, to connecting regularly on our shared aspirations for Manhattanville College and our students.

Molly Easo Smith, President
