New Duchesne Program
9.10.08
Manhattanville’s Duchesne Center has instituted a new community service program this year called United We Stand. The program connects college students with homeless veterans who are living in transitional shelters while they try to find a permanent place to live. Participating students would host workshops once a week on Sundays at the shelter. Some of the subjects that the workshops are about include: Art Therapy, Poetry, Cooking, Music, Physical Fitness, Computer Literacy, Dance and Theater, Environmental Science, and Book Club.
Students are also encouraged to suggest new workshop topics if they are interested in teaching a subject that they are skilled in. Students may sign up for this program at any time with the Duchesne Center. For more information, contact the Community Service Coordinator, Craig Donnelly, at donnellyc@mville.edu.
