This 10-week program consists of students traveling to a local Senior Citizen apartment complex in Westchester County and providing various activities for an excited bunch of Senior Citizens. The purpose of this program is to encourage Senior Citizens and students to interact and learn from each other during intergenerational programming. This program also hosts various activities on campus such as themed parties, workshops, and letter-writing campaigns. Examples of past events include: environment workshops, dance competitions, a Halloween masquerade party, letter writing to troops overseas and culture workshops. Our closing event for the year is the annual Senior Citizen Prom held at Reid Castle, pictured below.
This program and other community service programs on campus are sponsored by the Duchesne Center, Manhattanville’s main coordinator of community outreach programs. Visit http://www1.mville.edu/Duchesne/Index.htm to discover ways you can make a difference.
