About the Library
The Manhattanville College Library is the intellectual and social center of Manhattanville - offering an impressive print collection and an outstanding array of electronic information databases. Our instructional program emphasizes thinking critically about information needs and evaluating sources of information for relevance, reliability, and objectivity.
The library teaching staff works with each student to integrate traditional print materials and the newest electronic forms of information into their research. They guide students to become capable searchers and users of these resources.
The library has over 200,000 books, hundreds of current periodical subscriptions, an outstanding media collection and a scholarly rare book collection.
The library's website serves the college community with extensive research tools. The library catalog provides access to the library's holdings, patron information and the catalog holdings of the other academic libraries in Westchester County. The library subscribes to 143 databases linking to over 43,000 electronic journals, 5000+ electronic books and a large selection of periodical indexes in a broad range of disciplines. All of these resources are available off-campus to members of the college community. The library also provides faculty and students with an Electronic Reserves System (ERes), which can accommodate text assignments as well as audio and video files.
The library offers alumni and community memberships. Members enjoy special borrowing privileges and hours of access.
