David Lugoski presented on "Writing the History of 1932 in U.S. Film," at last year's Society for Cinema and Media Studies conference in Vancouver, British Columbia. At the conference, he also served as a respondent on the panel "Ethnicity and Nation in American Film Music." Professor Lugowski recently had five entries on filmmakers and individual films appear in the three-volume Encyclopedia of the Documentary Film edited by Ian Aitken: "Robert Siodmak;" "Jay Leyda;" "'A Bronx Morning' (Jay Leyda, USA, 1931-32);" "'A Divided World' (Arne Sucksdorff, Sweden, 1948);" and "'The Great Adventure' (Arne Sucksdorff, Sweden, 1953)." He also had six entries appear this year in The Routledge International Encyclopedia of Queer Culture edited by David Gerstner: "Dorothy Arzner," "Greta Garbo," "GMSMA," "Willian Haines," "handkerchief codes," and "James Whale."
