The SHRM/Manhattanville Connection
We offer these courses in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The curriculum, designed by subject matter experts, covers the 2008 HRCI Body of Knowledge and includes application exercises that develop specific competencies and decision-making skills. The classroom environment enhances learning and helps you stay on track, and it also provides opportunities to network and share real-world experiences with other HR professionals.
Features that deliver
The SHRM Learning System® offers a variety of study features that reinforce concepts and help students prepare for the certification exam. Periodic online updates cover significant changes in legislation and HR policies, and a comprehensive bank of test questions—more than 1,600 in all—is formatted to mimic the current HRCI exam experience.
The SHRM advantage
SHRM is the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management, with more than 225,000 members in over 575 affiliated chapters in more than 125 countries. A leader in HR education, SHRM has created the most complete certification preparation system available. Featuring printed materials, software, online tools and a classroom curriculum, it helps learners consistently beat the national exam pass rates. Besides being a powerful tool for certification preparation, these courses foster professional advancement and build confidence for managing HR challenges.
The Manhattanville advantage
Manhattanville is noted for its graduate degree program in human resource management. Besides the discipline and support of classroom sessions, a college-based course means a higher likelihood of company tuition reimbursement. Additionally, Manhattanville is centrally located and offers a convenient schedule—and its campus atmosphere is conducive to learning.
Certification Exam Information
The Human Resource Certification Institute developed the PHR®/SPHR®/GPHR™ certifications and administers the tests. The test items are held in strict security and are not made available to SHRM or any organization. The SHRM Learning System® does not “teach to the exam.” SHRM Learning System® teams developed their own activities and questions based on the HRCI® test specifications, and while these may be similar to certification exam items, they are not exact matches.
Eligibility to apply for HRCI certification exams and certification itself are independent of the Manhattanville course.
Spring 2008 Testing Locations and Dates
Due to the frequent changes in HR information, policies and regulations, it is recommended that participants take certification exams in the same year they complete the learning system course.
Certification examinations are computer-based and are offered at more than 250 Thomson Prometric Testing Centers in the U.S. and Canada. Reservations should be made directly through Thomson Prometric after HRCI has accepted your application. For information on the exam and how to register, visit www.hrci.org,
