Philip Anderson
OMHR 5011 – The Diverse Workforce

Phillip P. Anderson currently serves as the Manager of Diversity & Engagement for Sikorsky Aircraft, a division of United Technologies Corporation.  His responsibilities include strategic diversity leadership, managing Sikorsky’s employee network groups, and administering the annual employee survey and employing engagement best practices across the enterprise.  Prior to the diversity and engagement role, Phil was the staffing specialist for the Operations group.

During his career, Phil has worked in a diverse set of industries including human resources consulting, not-for-profit and hazardous waste management.  Most recently he served as a Job Market Consultant with Lee Hecht Harrison, where he assisted job seekers with market intelligence and corporations with acquiring exceptional talent.  Similarly as the INROADS/Fairfield Westchester Counties, Inc.’s Operations Manager, he advised talented minority youth in navigating the launch of their careers into corporate America. For the past ten years he has served as a training specialist for the Anti-Defamation League at high schools, college campuses and workplaces in the State of Connecticut. 

Mr. Anderson earned his Master of Science degree in Organizational Management and Human Resources Development from Manhattanville College and his Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was recognized for his student leadership by being inducted to the Sphinx Honor Society. Recently, he was chosen as the Business Coordinator of the Year by the INROADS New England Region for outstanding service to Sikorsky’s INROADS interns and employees. Phil is the past diversity chair of the Southern Connecticut chapter of the Society Human Resources Management and former board member of the Volunteer Center of Southwestern Fairfield County.  He has volunteered with many community organizations over the years including the Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity and the Women’s Business Development Center.

Cynthia Brosnan
OMHR 5007 - Research Techniques, Report Writing and Communication Development

Ms. Brosnan is a management development consultant specializing in leadership development, organizational design, career management and executive coaching.  She is also a certified instructor for the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.  Prior to starting her own firm, she held both line and human resources positions for Fortune 500 companies.  She has designed, developed and implemented global training programs for over 20 countries.  She holds an MBA from New York University.

John T. D’Angelo, Jr.

Jack D’Angelo has 30 years of extensive generalist and specialist experience in most areas of HR and in leading both non-union and union organizations. D’Angelo has participated in numerous programs with significant business impact and has a proven track record in successfully managing multiple/broad-scoped/complex projects. He has key competencies in: Compensation, Benefits, Employee Relations, Employee Services, Labor Relations, Staffing, Diversity/EEO and Affirmative Action, Succession Planning, HR Systems, HR Communications, Safety Health & Environmental Management and Merger and Acquisition/Divestiture Management. During his 27-year career with Verizon Communications and the former GTE Corporation, D’Angelo held a number of executive positions and other positions of increasing importance. In addition, he has recently consulted for IBM Corporation. D’Angelo is a current member of the Society for Human Resources Management and World At Work. He previously served on the board of directors of the Employment Policy Foundation and on the board of directors of Unified Federal Credit Union. Also, he served on the Town of Medfield, Massachusetts Personnel Board and chaired a major compensation survey steering committee in the Greater Boston Area for four consecutive years. He holds an MBA in Management and Industrial Relations from the University of Bridgeport and a B.S. in Business Administration from Central Connecticut State University. Jack, his wife and two daughters reside in Connecticut

Nona Footz
MSCI 5022 - Critical Thinking and Creativity in Organizations

Nona Footz is a Managing Director and leads our Executive Development Practice which focuses on assignments in Human Resources, Executive Coaching & Talent Development, in addition to our Female Board Recruiting Practice.  She has completed numerous assignments for companies across all industries.  Previously, Ms. Footz was a Client Partner in Korn/Ferry International and was a member of the Firm’s Global Human Resources Practice.  She was responsible for directing large, executive-level search and executive development engagements.  Ms. Footz joined Korn/Ferry from a global human capital consulting firm, as the vice president of business development, based in New York City and Chicago.  Her experience included selling and delivering projects in executive assessment and selection, leadership development, learning and organizational effectiveness. Ms. Footz started the New York City office as managing director, tripling its size in less than three years with a client base of Healthcare and Financial Services companies.  Ms. Footz’s previous roles were at Xerox Corporation in Sales, Marketing, and General Management in Canada, Bermuda, Latin America and in the U.S.

Ms. Footz holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Calgary and a Master of Science in Leadership and Strategic Management from Manhattanville College in New York.  She is the Chair of the New York City’s Leadership Alliance Board of the Melanoma Research Foundation, and is a board member of the Executive Women’s Golf Association.  Ms. Footz resides in New York City.

Carol Heady

Carol Heady is an independent consultant specializing in training, employee development and organizational development.  She brings 20 years business experience from a diverse background including: financial services, retail, and telecommunications.  Prior to starting her own company, Carol held several corporate training and development positions.   Ms. Heady obtained her M.S. in Organizational Management and Human Resources from Manhattanville College.

Gene Herbster
MSCI 5023 - Leading Change

Gene Herbster, M.S., M.A., is the Founder and President of Gene A. Herbster and Associates, Inc., a management consulting firm, which for the past twenty-six years has focused on organizational and individual change processes.  Other areas of expertise in which Mr. Herbster consults include executive coaching, mergers, and business strategies.

Ian Hlawati, Esq..
OMHR 5006 - Legal Issues in Human Resources Management

Ian H. Hlawati is an attorney with the law firm of Jackson Lewis, LLP.  For his entire career, Mr. Hlawati has practiced labor and employment law on behalf of management.  His practice focuses on all aspects of employment litigation, litigation avoidance, HR counseling, and labor relations, including defending employers in union grievance arbitration and negotiating management-friendly collective bargaining agreements.  In addition to traditional labor matters, Mr. Hlawati spends time advising human resource professionals, and has litigated employment disputes for many Fortune 100 companies. Mr. Hlawati  is a graduate of Northwestern University (B.A.; B.Mus., 1998), the University of Hawaii (J.D., magna cum laude, 2002), and received a Master of Laws in Labor Law from New York University School of Law (LL.M. 2004).  Mr. Hlawati is twice published and has contributed to a legal casebook on labor law.  His most recent publication was cited as an authority by the Harvard Law Review

John Jee
OMHR 5002 - Financial Aspects of Human Resource Management

John Jee is a financial advisor with the global investment banking firm of Morgan Stanley & Co. with focus on investment management and corporate retirement services at the firm.  His business background includes employment with
Bank of America (Continental Bank), Citicorp, Merrill Lynch, and Carnegie Hill Partners, a Greenwich CT consulting firm. He is also an adjunct professor of economics at The John F. Welch College of Business at Sacred Heart University. 

Mr. Jee is a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a BS in finance and BA in Political Science, and the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago with an MBA in finance.  He has earned a number of certifications in investment management and retirement planning, and is a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association.

David Lipsky, Ph.D.
OMHR 5004 - Organizational Development and Behavior

Dr. Lipsky is the Director of Talent and Organizational Development at Sony Electronics.
Before coming to Sony, he worked at KPMG, Merrill Lynch and the American Institute of Banking.  He earned his B.S. degree form Cornell University and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Hofstra University. 

Scott Manner
OMHR 5014 - Ethical and Social Issues for Management

Scott Manner has been at Mimeo.com since 1999 and has held a variety of major leadership positions, most recently as the company’s Chief Information Officer.  Currently, Scott is the vice President of global Procurement and SCM, with responsibility for the company’s materials supply chain, purchase order management, vendor relationship management, optimum inventory within company facilities and cost containment initiatives.

Mr. Manner has more than twenty-seven years experience in information technology, manufacturing, financial assurance, budgeting and process reengineering.  He has held leadership roles at both domestic and international start-up ventures. His career includes positions at Nynex, Bell Atlantic Mobile, KPMG and McKinsey.  He holds a Master of Science degree in Organizational Management and Human Resources Development from Manhattanville College `and a Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY at Geneseo.

Kathleen O. Maria
OMHR 5007 - Research Techniques, Report Writing and Communication Development

Ms. Maria’s writing has appeared in The New York Times, Gannett Westchester Newspapers (Book Reviews), Westchester Spotlight, Westchester Women’s News, and The Bloomsbury Review (Book Reviews). Besides Manhattanville, Ms. Maria has taught writing courses in a number of schools, including SUNY Rockland Community College, Iona College, The New York Metro Region Leadership Academy, and the Parsons School of Design.   Ms. Maria earned her BA in French at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, and her M.A. in French at Trinity University in San Antonio.  She also earned an M.A. degree in writing from Manhattanville College and most recently, an M.F.A. in creative writing with a concentration on non-fiction writing from The New School.

Marshall Metzger
OMHR 5027 - Project Management

Mr. Metzger's business experience includes engineering management in defense-aerospace, division general management responsibility with a F200 corporation, and direction of strategic planning for a UK multinational. As a management consultant he has directed teams providing training and management direction for major US corporations. Mr. Metzger has a BSE from Princeton University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Marc Miller
OMHR 5028 – HR Information Systems

Marc Miller is President of Marc S Miller Associates, and is a nationally respected authority on Human Resource Information Systems.  He has over thirty-five years experience with all aspects of technology solutions for the function of Human Resources including strategy and business case development for in-house vs. outsourcing decisions, cost justification, needs analysis, RFP development and vendor evaluation methodologies.  Mr. Miller earned his BA degree in Chemistry from Hunter College/CUNY, and his MBA with a concentration in Organizational Behavior from Iona College.

A sought after speaker, Mr. Miller has addressed thousands of HR Technology professionals in his participation with such organizations as the American Management Association, American Payroll, SHRM and IHRIM.  He is a founding member of the NYC IHRIM Association chapter.  In 1995, Mr. Miller received IHRIMS’ highest award, its Summit Award for his overall industry contributions. In 1996-7 he was the chairperson of IHRIM’s Professional Development Committee.

Since 2004, Mr. Miller has focused on HRO/BPO industry trends along with HR technology solutions for small to midsize companies.  He is a frequent contributor to HR technology industry publications, as well as other industry media outlets, and uses his significant industry experience and contacts to provide commentary and insight into the important trends surrounding HR technology and HR outsourcing.  He has taught Human Resource Management and HR Technology courses in undergraduate and graduate programs at LIU (Westchester Campus), Baruch, and Columbia University.

Paula Moskowitz
OMHR 5007 - Research Techniques, Report Writing and Communication Development

Paula Moskowitz has been a librarian since 1983, a reference librarian at Manhattanville since 1994, and has maintained the position of Assistant Coordinator of Instructional Programs since January 2000. Paula teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in research techniques and information literacy.  Prior to her position at Manhattanville, Paula was a law librarian at the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison.  She earned an M.L.S. degree at SUNY Albany. 

Andrew Paul
OMHR 5018 - Strategic Negotiations

Andrew Paul is currently the Deputy Director of Labor Relations at MTA Metro-North Railroad in New York.  He is a graduate of George Washington University Law School in Washington, DC. He has been an Adjunct Professor at Manhattanville College for 7 years. He teaches Strategic Negotiations.  Mr. Paul is also a member of the Graduate School’s Corporate Educational Advisory Board.

Thomas Schwartz, Ph.D.

Dr. Schwartz is an operations-oriented executive and international management consultant with over thirty years of combined corporate and university training experience.  Dr. Schwartz holds a Ph.D. from UCLA and is a successful entrepreneur.  His corporate experience includes a wide range of operations and Human Resources positions.  Most recently he was Senior Vice President of Human Resources for a multi-national London-based insurance brokerage firm.  He is a frequent lecturer and speaker at universities and business conferences and he is an adjunct faculty member at Pace University and St. John’s University where he teaches courses in entrepreneurship, global business, management and business ethics.

William Stopper

William Stopper is a consultant and former HR executive at IBM.  Besides teaching in the MS Program, he is an academic advisor on thesis projects and assists in recruiting students for the School of Graduate and Professional Studies.  Mr. Stopper is Current Practices Editor for Human Resource Planning, the journal of The Human Resource Planning Society.  He earned his B.A. degree in English from St. Mary’s College of California and holds an MBA degree from the University of Connecticut.

Denis Sullivan

Denis Sullivan has been an adjunct faculty member in the OMHR program since its inception.  While a senior HR executive at both GTE and Verizon, with nearly twenty-five years of proven leadership and broad functional expertise, Mr. Sullivan established a track record for delivering award-winning programs and business solutions with specific, quantifiable outcomes.  His leadership roles included:  leadership development and executive staffing; organization and workforce development; technical call center, sales and IT training; management education and employee development; HR communications and employee research; e-learning solutions; performance management and coaching, educational partnerships and university programs, budgets, HR planning and measurements; and HR business partner.

Mr. Sullivan holds an A.B. degree in psychology from Boston College and an M.Ed. in counselor education from Boston University.  He has also completed extensive doctoral coursework in counseling and human resource management at both BU and the University of South Carolina.  He is currently president of IdeaStudio, LLC, an HR consulting firm, where he advises global clients on learning and leadership development issues.  He serves on the Corporate Educational Advisory Board at Manhattanville.  A documentary filmmaker as well, Mr. Sullivan often uses elements from modern film as metaphors for contemporary HR and workplace issues.  Denis, his wife and two daughters live in Fairfield, CT.

Patricia S. Vreeland
MSCI 5009  Information Technology Management

Ms. Vreeland has held management positions at Avon Products, Inc. in Rye, New York since 2000 and is currently IT Director, Global Workplace Computing & IT Service Management.  Prior to joining Avon she held positions in IT and Finance at Sara Lee Intimate Apparel, Inc.; Asea, Brown Boveri, Inc., and PepsiCo. She earned her BS degree in Finance from Ithaca College and her MBA from the Lubin Graduate School of Business at Pace University.  Her MBA concentrations were Information Systems and Corporate Finance Management.

Ms. Vreeland’s course on Information Technology Management is listed in the International Management and the Leadership programs as well as the HR program.

Philip Webber
MSCI 5025 - Employee Relations

Mr. Webber is responsible for leading all human resource programs in IBM’s Systems and Technology Group with focus on workforce costs and employee climate.   Since joining IBM in 1977, he has held various executive positions in HR in the United States as well as Paris, France, including Vice President, Compensation and Benefits, where he had global responsibility for the strategy, design, policy and executive of employee and executive compensation programs as well as benefits and international assignment programs.  Mr. Webber graduated from M.I.T. with a B.S. in Management and received an M.S. degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University.  He is married with two children, and lives in Connecticut.
