Academic Resource Center

The Academic Resource Center (ARC) offers academic support free of charge to all Manhattanville students in a variety of subjects and skills at all levels of the curriculum. Through the ARC students may receive help, individually and in groups, in a relaxed and respectful environment, where academic needs may be met. The ARC has full-time professional instructors in writing, mathematics and study strategies, as well as part-time tutors in specific courses. At the Academic Resource Center, emphasis is put on the gaining of independence and confidence, as instructors and tutors offer guidance in active learning for personal success.

Are you interested in working as a tutor or a Supplemental Instructor at the ARC?  If so, you may apply by coming to the ARC office in the Library. Requirements for these positions include a B+ or better in the course you wish to tutor in, as well as the written recommendation of your professor. Students may wish to tutor in more than one course in their major field. Supplemental Instructors attend classes on a regular basis and hold weekly group review sessions, preparing materials to help students improve their skills and knowledge of  the course content. Tutors and SI leaders receive orientation and training at the ARC.  The pay is $7.85/hour.
