A New Chapter in Our History

Manhattanville College is proud to celebrate the inauguration of Michael E. Geisler, Ph.D, 13th President of Manhattanville College. As we welcome Dr. Geisler to our community, there is an air of great anticipation and enthusiasm for the future, along with a deep sense of commitment to the essential elements on which the College was founded. This is also an important time in our history, as 2016 marks 175 years since The Academy of the Sacred Heart, the school from which Manhattanville College evolved, was founded. The inauguration marks a new beginning for the College, as well as a time to proudly embrace our legacy of academic excellence and social and ethical responsibility.

Looking to our Future

Inauguration Weekend is an opportunity for the College community to celebrate the Manhattanville spirit, and uphold our commitment to the College's future. In addition to the interfaith service and inauguration ceremony, the week will feature a series of activities and events, including student showcases, faculty presentations, a special art exhibit, and a family BBQ.

Embracing our Distinguished Legacy

Manhattanville's original vision lives on in the tradition of service begun by the Society of the Sacred Heart, extending from the students to the global community. During the depression and World War II, President Grace Cowardin Dammann, RSCJ, instilled in Manhattanville's students a keen awareness of social problems by encouraging them to spend one day a week working with children in East Harlem. Mother Dammann's widely published speech, "Principles vs. Prejudice," inspired other colleges to break down racial barriers.
